Johnson: 'Supercommittee' short-circuits debate and avoids accountability

Now that the committee is law, Johnson said the least Congress can do is to ensure that it operates in a transparent manner.

"The least we should expect is for that committee to do its business in the open," said Johnson.  "[T]he American people have a right to see for themselves the measures that their elected officials are proposing and debating. That is how Congress and the president should have prepared the budget of the United States."
