The Senate has agreed to debate for another hour, then hold a series of votes on the omnibus spending bill for the rest of 2014.
At 5:30 p.m., the Senate will vote to end debate on the motion to concur with the House-passed omnibus bill, the amended H.R. 3547. Senators appear likely to end debate, which will require 60 votes.
After that, the Senate will vote to concur with the bill, which requires a simple majority. Senate passage will send it to President Obama for his signature.
Sen. Pat Leahy (D-Vt.) made a motion to hold these votes today, which was approved by unanimous consent. The announcement reflects an agreement both parties made to end debate on the bill and approve it tonight, instead of having votes as late as Saturday to pass the bill.
