Senate will vote on Baucus's nomination Thursday

The Senate is expected to clear the nomination of Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) to serve as U.S. ambassador to China this week.

The vote is expected earlier Thursday afternoon with up to one hour of debate.

Earlier Tuesday, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved Baucus’ nomination by unanimous voice-vote.

Baucus, who currently serves as chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, is expected to use his knowledge on trade while in his new position.
