Senate confirms foreign affairs nominees

The Senate confirmed the next U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands.

The Senate approved the nomination of Timothy Broas by voice-vote Thursday.

Also by voice-vote, the Senate confirmed Arun Madhavan Kumar to be assistant secretary of commerce and director general of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service.

The Senate has cleared several of President Obama's executive branch nominees this week.
