Senate adjourns with highway bill still in neutral

By Josiah Ryan - 02/15/12 07:30 PM ET

The Senate adjourned on Wednesday night without making further legislative progress on the surface transportation bill.

Senate leadership hopes to complete work on the transportation bill sometime after the Senate convenes at 10 a.m. on Thursday before it is likely adjourned for a 10-day state work period.

Late in the afternoon Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) filed cloture on the confirmation of Obama nominee Jesse M. Furman be United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York.
