Senate Dems set up Thursday votes for House-passed STOCK and JOBS Acts
Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-Nev.) set up votes for Thursday on two pieces of House originated legislation – a bill to create jobs by slackening regulations on capital formation and cloture on the House version of the STOCK Act, a bill that reiterates that it is illegal for members of Congress to engage in illegal insider trading schemes.
The voting will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the Senate will also cast votes on two amendments to the JOBS Act.
One, proposed by Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) would ensure there are federal watchdogs looking out for investors who participate in crowdfunding investing and another from Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) that would demand "fair and honest disclosure" for companies that raise capital from small time investors.
Following all of those votes the Senate will also vote on three of President Obama's judicial nominees for district courts.
The Senate adjourned just after 7 p.m. on Wednesday and is set to return 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
