Mack: Sen. Nelson 'wants to talk about Hooters'
Rep. Connie Mack (R-Fla.) released a new campaign ad on Thursday blasting Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) for running an ad against Mack that highlights Mack's past work for a management company that owned several Hooters restaurants in Florida. Mack is trying to win Nelson's Senate seat this year.
Mack's ad, titled "What Matters," says he wants to talk about issues that matter to Americans, while Nelson "wants to talk about Hooters and what I did as a kid."
"Bill Nelson cast the deciding vote for ObamaCare and voted to raise our taxes 150 times," Mack says. "I voted against ObamaCare and to cut taxes.
According to the Miami New Times, Mack was a marketing executive for LTP Management from 1994 to 2000, a group that owned Hooters franchises in Florida.
But Mack argued that this background is irrelevant to the issues facing most Americans.
"Let's get serious," Mack says in the ad. "Our country is in crisis. It's time to debate the issues that matter, not this nonsense."
