Sen. Collins marries Washington consultant

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) changed her Facebook status over the weekend after her Saturday marriage to a Washington consultant.

Collins married Thomas Daffron, a former Senate staffer, in a small ceremony attended by about 50 family members and close friends, according to the Bangor Daily News.

This is the first marriage for Collins, 59, and the second for Daffron, 73, who is the chief operating officer of Jefferson Consulting Group in Washington.

The Maine paper reports that Collins will keep her maiden name. Her wedding came about a month after Collins cast her 5,000th vote in the Senate.
