Corker: Why is Biden misleading Americans on Libyan attack?
Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), along with several other Republicans, criticized Vice President Biden's statement in Thursday's debate about the security situation in Libya.
In a statement Friday, Corker said Biden blamed the intelligence community for the administration's initial false assessment of what led to the deadly attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The administration had originally linked the attack to a video depicting the Prophet Muhammad, which outraged Muslims across the world, but it later came out that the killings were part of a planned terrorist attack.
Corker also said that Biden mistakenly claimed that no requests were made for additional security by U.S. officials in Libya prior to the attack on Sept. 11, 2012, where four Americans were killed, including U.S. ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens.
"With the vice president continuing this ruse with his comments last night, all Americans should ask what the administration is trying to hide."
Earlier this week, Corker was in Libya on a fact-finding mission and House Republicans held a hearing on the matter.
