Monday: VAWA in the Senate, health bills in the House

By Pete Kasperowicz - 02/04/13 09:42 AM ET

The Senate meets at 2 p.m., and will start work on the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, S. 47.

The bill is a second attempt at passing a bill to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) after the bill stalled in the last Congress. Both the House and Senate passed their own versions, but neither chamber took up the other's version.

The Senate will vote at 5:30 p.m. on a motion to proceed to the bill, from Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.).

The House also meets at 2 p.m. and will take up three suspension bills. They are H.R. 297, the Children's Hospital GME Support Reauthorization Act; H.R. 235, the Veteran Emergency Medical Technician Support Act; and H.R. 225, the National Pediatric Research Network Act.

Any roll-call votes needed on these bills will start at 6:30 p.m.
