Earlier this year, a bipartisan group of eight senators announced that they would try to pass comprehensive immigration reform this legislative year.

And on Wednesday, Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) will preside over the same committee during a hearing titled, “Building an Immigration System Worthy of American Values.”

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, also on Wednesday, will hold a hearing on aviation safety and the effect of sequestration.

“The U.S. maintains the safest aviation system in the world,” Chairman Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) said. “We must remain diligent in our oversight of the aviation industry to continue operating the safest system in the world.”
