Reid announces the Senate will consider a resolution on Iran sanctions

Earlier this year, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) introduced the resolution, which would reaffirm the United States’ support for Israel and recognizes the threat a nuclear Iran would pose to the West. The resolution also supports the full implementation of U.S. and international sanctions on Iran.

The resolution says, “that if Israel is compelled to take military action in self-defense against Iran's nuclear weapons program the U.S. government should provide Israel with diplomatic, military and economic support.”

Graham’s resolution, which expressly says it’s not a declaration of war, is likely to pass since it has 91 cosponsors in the Senate.

The Senate will begin debating S.Res. 65 at 4 p.m. on Wednesday and will vote on the measure at 5 p.m. that same day.
