“Bottom line, this is about making needed improvements to the Affordable Care Act,” Pryor said. “Our bill is a smart, common-sense way to ensure clergy and church employees have the same opportunities as other Arkansans to keep the healthcare coverage that best meets their needs.”

Pryor said the Church Health Plan Act would level the playing field by creating a new category of “qualified church plans” to make churches eligible for the small-employer tax credits, exchange subsidies or participants would be allowed to stay in their existing plans.

Many parts of ObamaCare are slatted to go into effect next year. Enrollment in healthcare exchanges will begin in October and coverage is expected to start on Jan. 1, 2014.
