Senate committee will examine federal minimum wage fairness

Chairman Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) has introduced the Fair Minimum Wage Act, S. 460, which would increase the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 over three years. His bill would also increase the federal minimum wage for tipped employees to $3.00 an hour.

Harkin will not seek reelection in 2014 and an increase in the minimum wage is one of his legislative goals before retiring.
