The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee will consider S. 815, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act on Wednesday.

That bill, which would expand non-discrimination protections in the workplace for the LGBT community, is being introduced a week after a major victory for same-sex couples in which the Supreme Court struck down provisions in the Defense of Marriage Act that limited federal benefits for their spouses.

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) introduced the bill in April.
