Tester demands transparency on how foreign aid is spent

Tester is co-sponsoring the Foreign Aid Transparency and Accountability Act with Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).

Their bill would require the State Department to disclose evaluations of security, development and humanitarian assistance four times a year on a public website.

“This bill adds needed transparency to ensure we are making smart investments overseas that improve lives and help keep Americans safe,” Tester said.

The Montana Democrat has supported efforts in the past to revoke foreign aid to Afghanistan and Pakistan because of their lack of cooperation with U.S. military efforts.
