Senators release text of Syria resolution

Members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee late Tuesday released the text of a new resolution authorizing military force against Syria, which will get a vote in committee on Wednesday.

The biggest change between the Senate text and Obama's proposed text is that it explicitly prohibits the use of ground troops in Syria, and says explicitly that the authorization expires after 60 days, with the possibility of a 30 day extension.

It also requires the Obama administration to submit a report to Congress on his strategy for Syria, and requires additional reporting to Congress.
