Senate panel examines conflicts between state and federal pot laws

Recently, the Department of Justice announced it would not pursue legal action against the states as long as their marijuana supply didn’t leak outside their borders.

Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole will testify along side officials from Washington and Colorado — the first states to legalize the drug.

On Wednesday, the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will see familiar faces when former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge and former Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) testify at a hearing titled, “The Department of Homeland Security at 10 Years: Examining Challenges and Achievements and Addressing Emerging Threats.”
