Lawmakers have been working to complete legislation to allow the government to borrow more before the debt limit is reached on Oct. 17.

But House Republicans met Tuesday morning to discuss the deal and announced it would make modifications.

As both sides dig in, it's unclear if the Senate will continue to advance its legislation or take up some of the House suggested amendments.
