Obama’s announcement came as negotiations were commencing in Geneva on Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Israel — a major U.S. ally — has said it would not accept any agreement that allows Iran to enrich uranium, even if it were simply for energy purposes and not for nuclear weapons.

“We cannot allow them to use these talks to continue to terrorize their neighbors,” Rubio said. “We’re playing into their hands.”

Congress has implemented harsh sanctions against Iran and those who do business with the country as a way to try to stop the nuclear weapons program. Rubio said those sanctions should be increased, not decreased, because Iran couldn't be trusted.
