In what could be a sign of a major development in ongoing debt-ceiling negotiations, Democratic leadership will schedule a vote for 5:30 p.m. that would request the presence of every senator in the chamber, sources told The Hill Saturday afternoon. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) completed a meeting with President Obama at the White House at 5:05 p.m. The procedural vote in the Senate would instruct the body's sergeant-at-arms to request the presence of absent senators to the Capitol. Republicans have repeatedly called Reid to move up a vote on his debt-ceiling legislation that is currently scheduled for 1 a.m. on Sunday but the majority leader has refused unless they agree to set a mere majority threshold for the vote. This story was updated at 5:12 p.m.
