Amid scandal, McAllister misses second day of House votes

Embattled Rep. Vance McAllister (R-La.) missed House votes for the second day in a row on Tuesday, amid the fallout from a video of him kissing one of his staffers.

If McAllister does not turn up to vote for the rest of the week, his absence could potentially complicate the GOP whip count for the 2015 budget proposal.

Ten House Republicans voted against the budget outlined by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) last year. Democrats are expected to be united in opposition, so the GOP can only lose 16 votes for it to still pass. But if McAllister is still absent later this week, Republicans could only lose 15 members

A video surfaced Monday that shows McAllister in an embrace with a woman who is not his wife. McAllister quickly apologized.

Thirty-six other lawmakers also missed Monday night's roll call votes, and between 15 and 22 lawmakers missed votes that were held Tuesday afternoon.
