Monday's global agenda: State Department to unveil plans for DR Congo

Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson will unveil proposals for resolving the violence that has plagued the Democratic Republic of Congo for years and call on the international community – and the United States – to redouble its efforts. Today is the deadline for the State Department to turn over to the House oversight panel any documents linking Hillary Clinton and her direct subordinates to security lapses in Benghazi, Libya.

Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) urged the Department of Homeland Security last month to reject plans to donate port security equipment to the Dominican Republic. [The New York Times]
Lobbying and regulations:
The State Department's Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation has imposed sanctions on TM Services Limited and Scientific and Industrial Republic Unitary Enterprise of Belarus; BST Technology and Trade Company, China Precision Machinery Import and Export Corporation, Dalian Sunny Industries, Karl Lee, Poly Technologies Incorporated of China; Iran Electronics Industries, Marine Industries Organization, and Milad Jafari of Iran; Al-Zargaa Engineering Complex and SMT Engineering of Sudan; Army Supply Bureau of Syria; and Venezuelan Military Industry Company of Venezuela for violation of the Iran, North Korea, and Syria Nonproliferation Act.
Dalian Sunny Industries and Li Fangwei (Karl Lee) of China and the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, Shahid Bakeri Industrial Group and Shahid Sattari Ground Equipment Industries of Iran are being sanctioned for engaging in proliferation activities.
And the State Department is imposing missile sanctions on Dalian Sunny Industries and Li Fangwei of China for violating the Arms Export Control Act.
