Cheney: Condoleezza Rice 'on the wrong side of all those issues'
Dick Cheney tears into Condoleezza Rice in an upcoming documentary about his life and legacy, Foreign Policy reports.
In the movie, former President George W. Bush's vice president is particularly critical of the potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate for opposing a unilateral U.S. strike against a suspected nuclear reactor in Syria when she was secretary of State in 2007. Israel ended up destroying the reactor.
“I thought [destroying the reactor] would reassert the kind of authority and influence we had back in '03 when we took down Saddam Hussein and eliminated Iraq as a potential source of WMD,” Cheney reportedly says in the film. "Condi was on the wrong side of all those issues so we had significant issues.”
"The situation turned out exactly how it should have," she told FP.
The two have clashed before, notably regarding Rice's willingness to try to negotiate with North Korea. Pyongyang became a nuclear power in 2006.
FP was able to preview “The World According to Dick Cheney” ahead of its March 15 debut on Showtime.
