Your morning global affairs speed-read Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will use his address at the United Nations today to warn Iran — and the world — that Israel will not tolerate Iran acquiring the means to produce a nuclear weapon. The remarks will be aimed at much at the Israeli public and the world community as at the Obama administration and Democrats, who have taken Netanyahu to task for inserting himself in the U.S. presidential race. Read The Hill's preview here. Ahead of his speech, the Israeli foreign ministry released a report showing sanctions against Iran are working, undermining some of Netanyahu's arguments. [Associated Press] The U.N. General Assembly will also hear from Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, who is expected to once again ask the world body to recognize Palestine as a state after the peace process with Israel stalled.
