Leftist group claims responsibility for US embassy attack

By Keith Laing - 02/02/13 02:51 PM ET

The bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, has been linked to a leftist militant group, according to a media report.

Reuters is reporting that DNA tests of the suicide bomber who carried out the attack on Friday confirmed he was linked to the country’s Revolutionary People's Liberation Army-Front.

The group, which is vehemently anti-American, claimed responsibility for the attack, and the claim has now been verified by Turkish officials, according to the report.

“Murderer America! You will not run away from people's rage," the group said on its website, the report said.

The White House has condemned the Turkish embassy attack as an “act of terror.”

Additionally, the United Nations has labeled the bombing a “heinous act.”
