President Obama to meet with state insurance regulators at the White House

By Julian Pecquet - 08/13/10 04:22 PM ET

President Obama will meet with state insurance regulators at the White House next month, the administration said Friday.

Obama had been scheduled to address the annual meeting of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) in Seattle on Tuesday but had to cancel because of a scheduling conflict, the White House said. Obama will still be traveling to Washington state on Tuesday to discuss the economy and jobs and headline events for Sen. Patty Murray (D), who is facing a tough reelection.

The NAIC is playing a key role in helping define some of the insurance reforms called for in the new healthcare reform law.
