News bites: HHS boosts subsidies spending, Maine holds down rate hike, and more

The Obama administration has increased its projected spending on the healthcare law's exchange subsidies by $111 billion over 10 years, Forbes reports.

Maine's top court Tuesday upheld state regulators' authority to hold down health plans' rate increases in a case with potential national implications, Kaiser Health News reports.

Hospital readmissions rates are lower in the privately run Medicare Advantage than in traditional Medicare, says a new study in the American Journal of Managed Care.
