News bites: Contraception war simmers down

House Republicans are backing off efforts to repeal the health law's contraception mandate, reports Politico.

A new Brookings Institution study confirms that birth control — particularly funding for family planning services through the Medicaid program — saves money, NPR reports.

Campbell's, the world's largest soup maker, will remove bisphenol-A (BPA) from the lining of its cans, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute claims proposed reforms of the Toxic Substances Control Act would undermine public health.
