GOP raises more questions about ObamaCare 'navigators'

Democrats assailed that investigation, saying it was designed to distract navigators just as the law's new marketplaces are about to open.

GOP lawmakers said Monday that they still have questions about the outreach and education program.

"The questions and concerns that emerged in our review appear to be a direct result of the rushed implementation of the Navigator program by HHS and the limited time available for training Navigator grant recipient organizations and their staff," the lawmakers wrote.

They requested information about how navigators will carry out their outreach duties, such as whether they plan to go door to door encouraging people to sign up — an approach Republicans said would increase the risk of fraud.

Republicans also asked about the funding breakdown for navigator grants. The size of grants does not always correspond to the number of people each organization plans to enroll, according to the GOP letter.
