The Livestrong Foundation is bringing on a new director of government relations, the group announced late Thursday.
The appointment of Cameron Krier, who was once a Senate healthcare staffer, comes at a challenging time for the Livestrong brand.
The cancer group was founded by cyclist Lance Armstrong, who, while no longer directly involved in the organization, helped raise its profile as a major charity.
Krier previously worked as senior director of policy analysis for the Texas Hospital Association.
Before that, she advised former Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) on healthcare issues, with special attention to the Affordable Care Act and the 21st Century Cancer ALERT Act.
"We are excited to welcome Cameron to our team," David Lofye, Livestrong vice president of government relations, said in a statement.
"Her experience will be an incredible asset for the LIVESTRONG Foundation in its support for federal cancer funding and health policies that allow patients and survivors throughout the United States to thrive during and after cancer."
