Before taking the staff director job, Fatemi spent nine years as a professional staff member for the subcommittee. He is also a former reporter and editor at several news organizations, including Education Week, before coming to Capitol Hill.

Cornerstone is one of the top-earning lobby firms in Washington. The shop has pulled in $5.4 million in lobbying fees so far this year, a slight dip from the $5.7 million Cornerstone took in from the first half of 2012.
