House Rules Committee to take up state-aid bill Monday

By Julian Pecquet - 08/05/10 05:18 PM ET

The House Rules Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Monday to decide how to proceed on a $26 billion state-aid bill, Democratic aides said.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) decided Wednesday to call the House back into session next week to pass the bill after it cleared a procedural roadblock in the Senate earlier in the morning. The vote is scheduled for next Tuesday.

The bill, which is fully paid for, includes $10 billion in education funds and $16 billion in enhanced federal Medicaid funding.
