Pelosi: House could take up Senate's six-month 'doc fix' today

By Julian Pecquet - 06/24/10 02:29 PM ET

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday the House could take up the Senate-passed Medicare "doc fix" as early as this afternoon, although nothing has been decided yet. Pelosi has raised concerns with the Senate's short-term (six month) Medicare payment update and the pension provisions used to pay for it, but lawmakers are under intense pressure from doctors and seniors to act quickly because physicians have seen a 21.3 percent cut in their Medicare reimbursements since June 1.
