The Senate is expected to take up Sen. Max Baucus' (D-Mont.) pared down tax extenders bill, but it's not clear it will get 60 votes even after the Medicare physician payment "doc fix" was shrunk from 19 months to six.

In the morning, the House oversight panel looks into viral hepatitis - a disease that disproportionately affects African-Americans and hasn't gotten much attention from health panels on Capitol Hill.

And the Food and Drug Administration ponders whether to approve new emergency contraceptive, as anti-abortion groups' vocal opposition could have repercussions on Capitol Hill.
