A leading anti-abortion-rights group on Thursday slammed President Obama for saying Planned Parenthood provides mammograms when the group provides only referrals for the procedure.
The Susan B. Anthony (SBA) List, which works to elect candidates who oppose abortion rights, said Thursday that Obama "persists in falsehood" on the distinction to attract female voters. Planned Parenthood is anathema to Republicans, who say its public funding as a healthcare provider allows the group to further subsidize its abortion services.
"Planned Parenthood is an abortion-centered, profit-driven business, funded by taxpayers who oppose their practices," said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser in a statement. "The president and his allies are using scare tactics with women’s health in order to get their vote. President Obama should be exposed for promoting these falsehoods."

Mourdock said Wednesday that he "abhors" rape but believes abortions should only be available when pregnancy threatens a woman's life.
Brown is in a tough race against Democrat Elizabeth Warren and told reporters Wednesday that he does not share Mourdock's views.
