FCC names senior communications staffers

By Gautham Nagesh - 04/28/11 02:33 PM ET

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced the appointment of Tammy Sun as communications director and Neil Grace as press secretary for Chairman Julius Genachowski on Thursday.

Sun will direct all communications for the FCC, while Grace will manage the chairman's communications. Sun will begin on Friday; Grace starts on Monday.

“I’m thrilled that Tammy and Neil are joining our robust communications team,” said Josh Gottheimer, senior counselor to the chairman. “Their skills and talents will be invaluable to the FCC at this exciting and important time."

Sun was most recently the founder and CEO of the New York communications firm Let it Shine; she previously served as deputy communications director for the William J. Clinton Foundation and spokeswoman for Sen. Joe Lieberman's (I-Conn.) 2006 reelection campaign. She graduated from New York University.

Grace most recently worked managing media relations for technology clients including Microsoft at Burston-Marsteller. He graduated from Georgetown University and began his career in public relations with the National Restaurant Association in 2002.
