Google CEO hosting fundraiser for Warner next week

By Gautham Nagesh - 06/17/10 12:47 PM ET

Google chief executive Eric Schmidt will host a fundraiser in Washington, D.C., next week for Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.).

Warner's spokesman confirmed a report that Schmidt will host a reception and dinner on June 21 at the Hotel Monaco for Warner, who isn't up for reelection until 2014. During his tenure as Virginia governor, Warner drew praise for embracing technology to improve the Commonwealth's services and economy.

The theme of the fundraiser will be "The Road to the Future: A Strategy of Growth and Competitiveness," and will also feature Norman Augustine, former chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin, and Martin Neil Baily, a senior economics fellow at the Brookings Institution.

Tickets to the reception alone would require a $1,000 donation, while a $2,500 contribution would garner two tickets to the reception and one dinner ticket. $5,000 nets four reception tickets, one dinner seat and co-chair status for the evening. The event will be closed to the press.
