Google says its Web search is partially blocked in China

By Sara Jerome - 06/30/10 11:38 AM ET

Google indicated on Wednesday that its search services have become partially blocked in China after being fully or mostly accessible on most days. It posted the update on a chart that tracks the accessibility of Google services in China.

The development falls on the same day Google reapplied for its license to operate a website in China.

Google announced on Monday on the company blog that Chinese officials may revoke its license to operate a website because it has been rerouting traffic to a Hong Kong search site that does not filter traffic. The warnings have prompted a policy change, with the company promising to stop rerouting traffic.
