Microsoft wants to see rules in place to ensure security and privacy in cloud computing, which allows users to move such functions as data storage and word processing onto the Internet.
The company has called for an update to the 1986 Electronic Communications Privacy Act to account for cloud functions. Users’ sense of security in the cloud will drive the adoption of the technology, companies say.
