FTC head endorses net-neutrality rules

By Sara Jerome - 12/15/10 11:39 AM ET

Federal Trade Commission Chairman Jon Leibowitz has thrown his weight behind net-neutrality regulations under consideration at another government agency.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, he reportedly portrayed the rules as "the best that could be hoped for" in spite of criticisms that the regulations are too watery.

He was critical of the tenor of the net-neutrality debate.

"There's a little disconnect between the reality of net neutrality and the big fight of net neutrality," he said.

The FCC will vote Dec. 21 on net neutrality.
