Issa promotes whistleblower website
House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is accepting tips on government fraud and waste.
He runs a website that allows government officials and the public to send the House Oversight staff pointers on where they see fraud and abuse in their own organizations.
The page promises that all personal details will be "kept in strict confidence." It requires users to state their phone or e-mail address as well as their agency or organization, but not their name.
Issa, who promised to use technology to make government more efficient, promotes the new website on Twitter.
He has fielded various responses by tweet. Many of them are snarky and come from partisans on both sides.
One whistleblower has alerted Issa of what he sees as waste at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The submission arrived from vocal tech-policy critic Brett Glass, who runs a small wireless company. He is a strong opponent of net-neutrality regulations. He tweeted that he used Issa's website to submit information about FCC waste.
"Done! Message sent via the gopwhistleblower.com Web site," Glass tweeted. Issa thanked him.
