Senate Dem calls for net neutrality conditions on AT&T merger
A Senate Democrat on the Antitrust subcommittee is calling for net-neutrality conditions on AT&T's merger with T-Mobile.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) said in a statement: "Regulatory approval should contain strict conditions to ensure that consumer concerns about cost, access, choice, and competition are adequately addressed. Moreover, such high wireless market concentration raises serious potential net-neutrality concerns that should be addressed. The largest mobile network in the nation must not be allowed to limit access to content in a discriminatory manner."
AT&T agreed to the FCC's wireline net-neutrality conditions, but helped lead the fight against stringent wireless rules by pressing the mantra that "wireless is different."
