ICE releases anti-piracy PSA
U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement released a new public service announcement for World Intellectual Property Day aimed at discouraging consumers from buying pirated content.
Under the Obama administration, ICE has taken a much more active role in combatting piracy both online and in the real world. The agency began seizing domains that link to pirated content last autumn and has shown no signs its tough new enforcement regime will subside.
"Intellectual property rights and the ability to enforce those rights encourage American companies to continue the tradition of American innovation and develop products, ideas and merchandise," ICE Director John Morton said in a statement.
"That is why we will continue to educate the general public about the real consequences of IP theft."
