FCC: We must not study spectrum issue 'to death'

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) responded to a study that said there is no spectrum crisis by saying that studying the issue "to death" is not the best way forward. 

"We simply can’t afford to study this to death while the rest of the world passes us by," an FCC spokesman said. 

The study, sponsored by the National Association of Broadcasters, said there is no spectrum "crisis," a problem the FCC points to in calls to repurpose some TV airwaves to mobile broadband. 

“There’s no denying that the looming spectrum crunch is real and that we need to take action now," the spokesman said. 

He pointed to soaring levels of data usage as well as the level of tablet sales to argue that the airwaves are under strain.
