Genachowski, McDowell to headline net-neutrality hearing

By Sara Jerome - 05/02/11 02:26 PM ET

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski and Commissioner Robert McDowell will testify at a House Judiciary hearing Thursday on net neutrality, FCC officials confirmed.

The Competition subcommittee is exploring whether there might be an antitrust solution to net-neutrality concerns after House Republicans overwhelmingly rejected rules cemented by Genachowski to address the issue.

Subcommittee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) has previously introduced legislation that would allow antitrust authorities to prevent phone and cable companies from interfering with Web traffic.
