Online activists head to Minneapolis

By Sara Jerome - 06/13/11 12:46 PM ET

A polarized set of online activists will gather this week in Minneapolis at separate conferences.

Once again, RightOnline and Netroots Nations are simultaneous and in the same city—but entirely separate in every other way.

Netroots Nation, where the left will gather, begins Thursday. Speakers from Capitol Hill include Democratic Sens. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), Al Franken (Minn.), Ben Cardin (Md.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.), Democratic Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, (Fla.) Jared Polis (Colo.), Rep. Donna Edwards (Md.), Tim Walz (Minn.), Luis Gutierrez (Ill.), Judy Chu (Calif.), Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Jan Schakowsky (Ill.) Keith Ellison (Minn.), John Garamendi (Calif.), and former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.).

Right Online begins Friday. Speakers from Capitol Hill include Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), and GOP Reps. Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.), Michele Bachmann (Minn.), John Kline (Minn.), Thad McCotter (Minn.), and Tim Huelskamp (Ks.).
