News bites: Apple names Art Levinson chairman of the board

By Brendan Sasso - 11/16/11 10:16 AM ET

Apple taps Art Levinson to serve as non-executive chairman of the board, replacing Steve Jobs, who died last month after a long battle with cancer. The company also added Disney CEO Robert Iger as a director.

Google is planning to launch an online music store.

Sony is considering launching an Internet-based alternative to cable television.

Steve Jobs had reportedly hoped to create a wireless network using unlicensed spectrum.

Facebook says it has eliminated most of the spam of violent and pornographic images that have flooded the site in recent days.
