Senate Commerce panel to examine how Netflix, Hulu are changing TV

By Andrew Feinberg - 04/18/12 11:10 AM ET

The Senate Commerce committee will meet next week to examine how online video services like Netflix and Hulu are affecting the future of television, chairman Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) announced late Tuesday on his Twitter account.

In a statement, Rockefeller said he's holding the hearing because “[e]verything about television is changing.”

"People are watching all sorts of programs on an assortment of platforms, at different times of the day or night and without the traditional boundaries of television channels," he said.

The hearing will take place at 10 a.m. next Tuesday. A witness list is not yet available.
