News bites: Judge blocks Apple-Google patent case

Federal Judge Richard Posner threw out competing lawsuits over smartphone patents by Apple and Google, Bloomberg reports.

Legal experts are divided on how the ruling will affect other patent disputes, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The Justice Department's antitrust lawsuit against Apple and a group of e-book publishers is scheduled to go to trial in June 2013, Reuters reports.

TechCrunch reports on a new Facebook feature that lets users find friends nearby.
